KIDS Are TOPS Sports Center (Home of TOPS Gymnastics Club) Friday, June 8, 2007 Press Release – For Immediate Release . . . Level 9 Eastern National Championships were held in Kissimmee, Florida at the Silver Spurs Arena and hosted by the Orlando Metro on May 18-20, 2007. KIDS Are TOPS Sports Center qualified two Level 9 gymnasts, Erika Tolson and Kelsey Zimmerman, through the USA Gymnastics Region 5 Regional Championships in Midland, Michigan in April. USAG Region 5 represents all of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Kentucky and is very competitive and, as usual, sent a very strong group of gymnasts to nationals. Erika Tolson competed in her first national competition in the Senior A Age Group (ages 14 1/5 - 15 1/5). Erika scored 9.2 on Vault, 8.8 on Uneven Bars, 8.375 on Balance Beam (with one fall) and 9.175 on Floor Exercise. Her All-Around total of 35.55 placed her 28th out of over 60 gymnasts in her age group. Erika also took 12th place honors on Vault. In the Junior D Age Group (13 1/2 - 14 1/2), Kelsey Zimmerman scored 9.1 on Vault, 9.475 on Uneven Bars, 8.75 on Balance Beam and 9.225 on Floor Exercise. Her 36.55 All-Around total placed her 10th in the nation in her age group. She also placed 10th on Vault and 2nd on Uneven Bars. This was Kelsey's second trip to nationals. Erika and Kelsey are coached by TOPS Head Coach, Donny Bent. With over 16 years coaching experience, Donny is the Director of Gymnastics at KIDS Are TOPS. Congratulations to Erika and Kelsey on an excellent competition as they hit their routines well and did an excellent job representing Region 5, Ohio, Dayton and TOPS Gymnastics!
